Urban Movements

Complete movie online now: http://dkmotion.com/umove

Finally its done. I just finished the work for the subtitles of the HipHop documentary Urban Movements. The complete movie will be online in April 2011 at dkmotion.com. Im really looking forward to share this important pice of my work with others. Here is one of the Trailers (with a rough translation of the German narration):

Members of Blumentopf, Texta, AML, Hashtwins, Fovs-Crew, Beathoavenz, Prodigyy-Crew, Permanent-Unit, Tribe Vibes and many others served as interviewees in the documentary. BBoys, Djs, Rapper and Graffiti-Writers answer questions about HipHop, the commercialization of it, as well as the sub culture being as a HipHoper. They talk about dreams and struggles for life. At times seriously, sometimes in a cheerful way …

The interview parts of the documentary are accompanied by images of HipHop. On the one hand by images around settings, where HipHop take place, like time lapses of urban regions. On the other hand by images of HipHopers while living their culture, while performing their art forms …

On the one side, this project was the final project for my studies in Arts&Science, the master program of media design at the University of Applied Sciences Vorarlberg. On the other side it was a lot more than this. For months, this project, as well as HipHop itself, was my life. Choosing and getting into contact with the artists for the movie, the time management and the organization of the shootings, the interviews, the style-shots, dealing with more than 4TB material, creating a story out of more than 16 hours of interviews … it captured me completely. I recorded every single image of the documentary on my own. Sometimes I handled 3 cameras, the lightning and the audio recording at the same time, while doing the interview with the artists. It was a hell of a lot of things to do and it wasn’t easy all the time. But it was lot of fun, the interviewees all were very supportive and friendly to me. I always had a great time while dealing with them. At this point, many thanks to all the HipHop heads, supporting me with the documentary.

The documentary itself already won the New Way Award. This award goes once a year to innovative study projects in Vorarlberg. It was screened at the Film:riss festival in Salzburg, as well at the Kapu festival in Linz. Im looking forward to a lot of international film festivals, now with the English subtitles and narration, maybe the movie also will get screened international …

Anyway, it would be great if a lot of people would watch the documentary and give me there feedback!

Gute Arbeit!
